When sport does good: Venicemarathon collected 115,000 euro for solidarity!

Running not only to have fun, stay healthy and socialize, but also as a gesture of altruism for those in need. This, for years now, is the philosophy Venicemarathon which again reached a remarkable achievement in the field of charity.
The Charity Program 2016, related to the 31st edition of the Venice Marathon, has collected in fact 85,407 euros. To these we need to add 29,000 euros collected during the three Family Run the three noncompetitive promotional races which were held in San Donà, Riviera del Brenta and Mestre which will be allocated to didactic activities in those schools that have participated (approximately 17,000 euros). A part of the amount will be donated to the "Alex Zanardi Bimbingamba " (approximately 12,000 euros) for the production of prostheses for children who suffered amputations and who can not benefit from healthcare.
These good results close the Solidarity budget 2016 for the Venicemarathon Club: two sights of great value that demonstrate on the one hand that the principle of fundraising through Rete del Dono is a formula that works, and on the other that running events for families and students represent not only an important vehicle for promoting sports for young people, but also an effective tool to raise funds.
"We are once again more pleased - says the President the Venice Marathon Club, Piero Rosa Salva - Venice Marathon has believed from the beginning in charity projects. For us, the marathon is not only a great event to make people run, but especially a container of positive values and messages and that help others. We are proud with what has been done, and we will continue to commit ourselves more and more for charity".

Going back to the Charity Program, the nonprofit organizations that have joined the project received in total 1,186 donations made online through the Rete del Dono. The associations that have collected the most were respectively: Rotary International District 2060 '' Run to End Polio # VM16 '' with 296 donations for a total of € 28,439; the Association Family SMA Onlus '' VeniceMarathon 2016 Families of SMA P.SMArt '' with € 13 032 (120 donations) and the Foundation Salus Pueri '' Run with us for Pediatrics! '' with € 9172 (87 donations).
